Old heat pump system

My partner as well as I spent the fifty years of our lives residing in the northeast, where the Winter weather is severe.  All of us dealt with more than seven weeks of uneven temperatures below freezing, multiple feet of snow, as well as dangerous wind chill.  All of us devoted minutes to shoveling snow as well as scraping ice, as well as spent a fortune on our heating bills. Our lake condo was equipped with a big boiler system, which ran non stop throughout the Winter.  All of us never even bothered to install a central cooling system. When we’d finally had enough of the horrible Winters, all of us bought a condo down south. All of us chose an area where the temperature rarely drops below forty degrees.  Our new lake condo features an electric heat pump, which combines heating as well as cooling into a single unit. The system works by finding ambient heat in the air as well as moving it from 1 site to another. During the warm season, it pulls heat from inside the condo as well as pumps it outside, creating a cooling effect.  When the weather cools off, the heat pump draws heat from outside as well as transfers it inside. If the temperature drops into the thirties, there’s not enough ambient warmth as well as the heat pump is no longer effective. All of us didn’t expect this to be a problem. Unfortunately, our first Winter down south was 1 of the coldest seasons on record.  All of us could not maintain comfort. The heat pump kept freezing over as well as quitting. All of us had to use hair dryers to thaw it out. All of us ended up purchasing a whole bunch of moderate sweatshirts, pants as well as fuzzy socks. All of us also bought an electric area heating system to help out the heat pump.
