Heat pump for the winter cold

My fiance plus I spent the fifty years of our lives residing in the northeast, where the Winter weather is severe.  Every one of us dealt with multiple weeks of hot plus cold temperatures below cold, several feet of snow, plus dangerous wind chill.  Every one of us devoted minutes to shoveling snow plus scraping ice, plus spent a fortune on our heating bills. Our current home was equipped with a large boiler system, which ran non stop throughout the winter.  Every one of us never even bothered to install a central cooling system. When we’d finally had enough of the horrible winters, the people I was with and I bought a home down south. Every one of us chose an part where the temperature rarely drops below forty degrees.  Our current new home features an electric heat pump, which combines heating plus cooling into a single unit. The method works by finding ambient heat in the air plus moving it from a single location to another. During the summer, it pulls heat from inside the home plus pumps it outside, creating a cooling effect.  When the weather cools off, the heat pump draws heat from outside plus transfers it inside. If the temperature drops into the thirties, there’s not enough ambient warmth plus the heat pump is no longer effective. Every one of us didn’t expect this to be a problem. Unfortunately, our first Winter down south was a single of the coldest seasons on record.  Every one of us could not maintain comfort. The heat pump kept cold over plus quitting. Every one of us had to use hair dryers to thaw it out. Every one of us ended up purchasing a whole bunch of warm sweatshirts, pants plus fuzzy socks. Every one of us also bought an electric space furnace to help out the heat pump.
